Franken for Iowa is thrilled to announce that former U.S. Senate candidate Cal Woods has endorsed Admiral Mike Franken.
Mr. Woods wrote:
“Mike served America for more than 30 years in the U.S. Navy and on Sen. Ted Kennedy’s staff on Capitol Hill. His knowledge, insight and perspective on foreign policy is unparalleled. His commitment to health care for all Americans, addressing climate change and ending Wall Street’s stranglehold on our financial system made Mike the obvious choice.”
Mr. Woods, a veteran, journalist, and businessman, began his campaign last year. He focused valiantly on the urgency of climate change and the deep inequalities of American society, particularly around health care.
“This endorsement is deeply humbling,” Franken said. “During our competition, I admired and tried my best to emulate Cal’s passion and intensity. I know he has bright political future, and I value his friendship.”
Communications director Aaron Slutkin said, “Cal is a good man, and our campaign is better for having him on board. Cal knows that Democrats have a real shot at beating Joni Enrst if we pick the right candidate on June 2. As Cal said, Mike is the obvious choice.”
Cal Woods’ endorsement adds to a prestigious and growing list, including Leader Bill Dotzler (District 31), former State Senator Daryl Beall (District 5), and Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (MI—8). A full slate of endorsements is available at www.frankenforiowa.org/endorsements.
Admiral Franken is available and eager to be reached for further comment.
